The book follows Stefan and his family’s years in the Stikine wilderness—from their first journeys into the region to building a life beside the river. It explores the realities of raising children in a remote environment, creating a self-sufficient home, navigating dangerous waters, and becoming involved in the development of the Stikine River salmon fishery.
